We will be doing the Biometrics and Health Risk Assessment again this fall
so that you can save $360 on your health insurance premiums in 2013.

If you have had a physical with labs in 2012, you may use those labs for your biometrics.

Open house for the new session is on Tuesday, September 25th
at 7 a.m. and again at 12:10 p.m.

in the Taylor Health conference room.

Sessions runs for 17-weeks.
Cost is $186 payable by check, cash, credit, debit or deferral (if in good standing).
Employee non-credit fee waiver of $150 can be applied toward the cost.

Research study option is also available for a $128 benefit.?

is designed to substantially lower high levels of blood pressure, blood sugar,

MS-150 MSU Team
The MS-150 is a two day, 150-mile bicycle ride to support Multiple Sclerosis.? MSU is putting together

Tobacco Free Ambassador Training Workshop
This interactive workshop will prepare you to support the University?s new
Tobacco Use/Smoking policy as a ?smoke free ambassador.? This workshop will

provide information on the new tobacco free policy, which?begins on August 15
th, 2012
that disallows smoking on campus and will prepare you
to take an active role in promoting a healthy campus environment by helping

to spread the word about the new policy in a respectful way. ?

Discovery Center of Springfield will be hosting the
9
th annual Moonlight Bike Ride on Saturday, August 18th.?
This family fun ride consists of a variety of distances.?

You may choose from a four, seven, or fourteen mile route.

This event began in 2004 as way to encourage health and wellness among families.

A night time bike ride is a fun and unique way to achieve this goal.?

The event will begin at 7:00 with a pre-party in the Discovery Center?s parking lot and the bike ride will begin at 8:30 p.m.?

We want to welcome all participants to stay after the ride and enjoy pancakes from Village Inn and other fun activities.

What is the Mercy Health Wellness On Tour Bus?
The
Mercy Health Wellness On Tour Bus brings you the area?s only state-of-the-art
mammography equipment on wheels.

The new high-tech health bus, staffed with dedicated Mercy Health professionals,
has delivered on-site services throughout southwest Missouri.

Why get a mammogram?
? One in nine women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime
? Breast cancer accounts for nearly one in three cancers diagnosed in women

? Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in U.S. women

? Early detection and treatment is key to higher breast cancer survival rates

? Mammography is an excellent screening tool

About Mammograms
A mammogram is a low dose X-ray of breast tissue. A mammogram screening can detect

a lump as early as seven years before it can be felt.

The Wellness On Tour Bus is an extension of
Mercy Health Breast Center.
Your films will be read by St. John?s dedicated mammography radiologists.

Films are also read by the Image Checker System.

This system is the first FDA-approved computer aided detection system.

Early detection is key to higher survival rates and lower treatment costs.

The Mammogram Bus will be located in front of Freudenberger House

Chickpeas with Spinach ? Recipe

Ingredients:

2 medium onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 cups cooked chickpeas

1 ? cups chopped fresh tomatoes (or same amount tinned)

red pepper flakes (to taste)

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon oregano

1 (10 oz) package frozen spinach, chopped and defrosted

1-2 lemons, juice of (to taste)

Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, over medium heat, saut? the onions and garlic in the olive oil until the onions are tender.

2. Add the chickpeas, tomatoes, pepper flakes (to taste) and oregano and paprika

3. Cover and simmer for about 18 minutes, stirring occasionally

4. Add the lemon juice of 1 lemon, taste and adjust to your own personal taste.

5. Salt and pepper to taste
