Earlier this summer, MMW reported that Apple was planning to launch a new dedicated category to iOS apps that pertain to food and beverages.
Apple says the category includes ?apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink.?
As of this writing, applications are being automatically migrated to the new category.
Since early June, Apple has been contacting and working closely with developers to help ready their food and drink-related apps for the new category.
On Friday, the new category went live in the Apple App Store. It already features more than 2800 paid apps and another 4000 free apps in the iPhone section.
In the iPad app department, the new category boasts of more than 1200 paid apps and 1000 free apps.
